Lots of comments on that article in Forbes... a fair amount claiming the article is out of touch. I'd be interested in what some real world observations are from some one who's "feet on the street"...

Wow Jennifer !

Kudos on writing something so special !

This actually answers a lot of questions for me.

I was in this transition phase .. thinking and thinking just about career. And then I had made these commitments outside my work area .. which require time such as volunteering for a Special Children's Association.

Even though I knew the answer .. your thoughts made it more concrete for me to decide.

Thanks a ton again.

Regards
Parmila

Jennifer-Thanks for the encouragement. I figure even being able to mention in an interview that I am on the Tweetdeck puts me at the edge of what's happening. Enjoying your writing!

Keep in mind you can always use him as a reference (with his permission) for future jobs and you may want to consider sending a thank you card and at the end write, "Like my work? Please write a recommendation for me on LinkedIn." It's probably easier for your client if you write a thank you email with a link to write you a recommendation. That isn't nearly as direct and he would probably be happy to do it. The key is not to ask your client to be inconvenienced in any way AND you don't want him to feel pressured to do something he isn't comfortable with. Thanks for reading!
